Benview Campus was a £19 million construction project in Ruchill Park in Glasgow. The campus brings together St. Cuthbert’s Primary School, Highpark Primary School and Highpark Learning and Communication Resource.
This was a highly visible and challenging elevated site adjacent to an ecologically sensitive landscape. As well as classrooms there are shared community facilities including a media suite and library, a conference room, the games hall and dining hall.
The building has a linear design which provides east/west orientation to minimise overheating, while still allowing the dining area to enjoy the spectacular views to the south.
All classrooms face west onto a linear play area where an existing tree belt has been utilised for shelter.
The many challenges of developing the site included accessing the site through the park and adjacent land as well as responding to the high voltage power-lines passing through the site.
Once construction was completed, we installed all the furniture which was manufactured at our supported manufacturing factory Royal Strathclyde Blindcraft Industries (RSBi).
