City Building demonstrates commitment to community with £30k donation to Scottish charities

Posted On March 25, 2024 By Olivia.Hazelton In Community Engagement, News /  8

10 charities have received sizable donations from City Building, including Homeless Kindness Street Team, Action for Children and Breast Cancer Now.

City Building, one of Glasgow’s leading construction firms, has reaffirmed its dedication to supporting its local community by donating £30,000 to 10 different Glasgow charities.

The contributions are in response to the ongoing cost of living crisis and will provide assistance to those in need across Glasgow.

Two of the causes, Breast Cancer Now and Prostate Cancer Scotland, were chosen by staff at City Building as part of ongoing awareness and fundraising work between the organisations and employees. Both charities held sessions with staff to raise awareness of their respective cancers and how to access support if required.

The breakdown of the donations is as follows:
• £10,000 to Action for Children
• £5,000 to Breast Cancer Now
• £5,000 to Prostate Cancer Scotland
• £4,000 to Homeless Kindness Street Team
• £1,000 to Kennishead Larder
• £1,000 to Sandyhills Larder
• £1,000 to Pollok Pantry
• £1,000 to North West Pantry
• £1,000 to Ruchazie Pantry
• £1,000 to Wheatley Foundation for Pantry Network

These donations reflect City Building’s commitment to making a positive impact and supporting causes that are close to the hearts of its employees and the wider community. By addressing issues such as childhood poverty, cancer research, homelessness, and food insecurity- City Building aims to contribute to building a stronger and more resilient community for all.

Mandy Morgan, chief executive of the Scottish Pantry Network, said, “I want to give a big thank you to City Building for their amazing help and generous donation. Their support means a lot to The Scottish Pantry Network and its communities. Together, we’re making a better tomorrow where every little bit counts.

“With City Building by our side, we’re confident we can make real changes that make people’s lives better. Thank you for believing in what we do and for caring about our communities.”

Mae Bell, information and advice manager at Prostate Scotland, added,”We are sincerely appreciative of City Building’s wonderful donation. This will make a huge difference to our ability to provide information, support, and awareness-raising activities for those impacted by prostate cancer and disease. The generosity of everyone engaged in making this donation is greatly appreciated. ”

Alan Burns, executive director at City Building, stated, “As a company deeply rooted in the Glasgow community, we recognise the importance of giving back and supporting those who need it most.

“City Building’s commitment is entirely led by our compassionate workforce, and we hope that our contributions can help alleviate some of the burdens they face.

“As one of the largest employers in the area we understand our role in driving change and having our staff lead these donations ensure that we help causes that are making the biggest difference in our communities.”
