City Building enjoys a long track record of delivering high quality training and apprenticeship services to both public sector and commercial organisations; while benefiting from continuing experience in training and support for people with disabilities through RSBi, one of the largest supported employment facilities in the UK.

Training college & Learning Centre

We operate our own Training College, offering an apprenticeship programme to more than 200 young people, alongside continual professional development for our wider workforce.

Our SQA-approved College and Learning Centre are fully equipped with modern facilities, including hands-on workshop spaces and tech-enabled classrooms featuring Smartboards and high-speed internet. This dynamic learning environment ensures learners receive a high-quality education while gaining valuable on-the-job experience

Delivering Expert Training Solutions

We offer a range of Construction and Health and Safety Training Courses. We can adapt and deliver any of the programmes exclusively to your team, or develop a programme which will meet the challenges facing your organisation.
 
All our courses are run by trainers who are both experts in their own subject field as well as experts at developing others through encouragement and involvement, giving you access to the best possible advice throughout your course.
 
We ensure that our approach to learning delivery is based on the latest thinking, and we bring the most appropriate learning styles to our courses.
 
This comprehensive training programme includes:
 
  • SVQ Level 3 training programmes for mainstream trades including Joinery, Plumbing, Electrical, Painting and Decorating, Roof Slating & Tiling at our in-house Scottish Qualifications Authority (SQA) approved College at Atlas Industrial Estate, 12 Edgefauld Avenue, Springburn, Glasgow, G21 4BB.
  • Modern Apprenticeship Training at City Building’s own purpose-built College.
  • Continual training for City Building’s wider workforce.
 
City Building also provides the associated process management of all aspects of our apprenticeship programmes including grant funding administration and support frameworks to develop apprentices towards an average successful completion rate of 95%.

CITB certificated courses including Site Management Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS); Construction Skills new Health, Safety and Environmental test (formally CSCS) including employee competency card

Certificated First Aid Training (initial 3 day course) and First Aid Refresher Training (2 days) including employee competency card

PASMA certificated Working at Height Course including employee competency card

Additional City Building certificated independent Health & Safety based courses including Manual Handling, Fire Safety, Asbestos Awareness, Driver Awareness, Ladder Fix, Mobile Roof Anchoring Systems carried out by our fully trained and competent staff

Fully interactive I.T. Introductory, Intermediate, and Advanced training packages for Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, Powerpoint, and Outlook software

Wide ranging training packages on Power Tool training including CAT & Genny; Hand Held Power Tools; Abrasive Wheels, Circular Flip Saw, Core Cutting, Wood Machine Safety Awareness.

Apprenticeships​

Our award-winning training college is the most successful apprentice training college in Scotland. We are the industry’s largest employer of female craft trade apprentices and have one of the highest pass-out rates for apprentices at 94% compared to an industry average of 75%.
 
As well as developing our apprentices professional skills we also develop their social and citizenship skills through our Community Benefits scheme. The scheme encourages apprentices to engage with local groups and organisations to contribute to community initiatives through voluntary work.
 
City Building recently celebrated being the first construction firm in Scotland, to achieve the Investor in Young People (IYP) Platinum accreditation.
