Royal Strathclyde Blindcraft Industries (RSBi) is a distinctive organisation with unique resources and is the manufacturing division if City Building. Specialising in a wide range of products, RSBi is also dedicated to making a difference in the community.
From its roots as a supported factory for the visually impaired, RSBi today is committed to providing opportunities for people with disabilities. RSBi is one of the country’s leading examples of social enterprise, combining commercial success and quality products with socially responsible practices.

Carlton Village kitchen refurbishment project, delivered in partnership with Wheatley Group, was a substantial build across the entire housing estate. Across 221 kitchens and 205 utility rooms, our design team introduced fresh, modern finishes- from bold indigo blue and dust grey cabinetry to sleek chrome handles and sparkling new worktops.
The City Building design team provide a range of modern, accessible and bespoke solutions across the project which was expertly crafted by the RSBi manufacturing team.
The unique builds such as boiler housings and freezer units added a tailored touch ensuring all homes were fitted with the best solution for their property.
Parkhead Hub, which officially opened in January 2025 is one of City Building’s most ambitious projects to date. As the largest facility of its kind in the UK, the Hub brings together NHS, HSCP and community services under one roof to provide streamlined, modern care.
RSBi provided the entire furniture outlay for the building, manufactured at our Glasgow factory.
The team worked closely with partners to design and install bespoke furniture solutions across offices, waiting areas, breakout spaces and flexible conference rooms.
From thousands of desks, chairs and storage units to innovative foldaway tables, every detail was delivered to the highest standard.
RSBi is a unique organisation that combines social impact with quality craftsmanship. Its heritage, ethos and contribution to Glasgow are important and require sustaining. It provides meaningful employment opportunities for individuals with disabilities, focusing on manufacturing kitchens, windows, doors, furniture, and other products.
RSBi also contributes to wider employability in the city with over 3000 hours of training provided each year as part of the “No One Left Behind” schools programme to support Additional Support and Learning pupils into work.
RSBi as a separate “supported business” providing a unique opportunity to access contract opportunities, 3rd party funding and key partners/customers looking to meet their equality and inclusion objectives. – through procurement channels not otherwise available. RSBi is the largest supported business in Europe which brings a distinct and valuable benefit.
We recognise that external factors out with our direct control, such as cost-of-living, inflationary pressures on the cost of materials, budgetary pressures at a local and national level and the legal and regulatory environment will continue to test its resilience and agility.
