TMV – Compliance and Safety Project

Initiated in 2021, the TMV project was launched in response to a fatal accident inquiry, with the aim of enhancing bath and shower safety in vulnerable households.

Thermostatic Mixing Valves (TMVs) were installed to regulate water temperature and prevent scalding, especially for residents aged over 75 and under five-years-old.

The project grew rapidly, with thousands of installations and regular performance checks integrated into the gas servicing schedule.

The team also responded to void properties to ensure incoming tenants were protected.

Over four years, the programme has grown considerably, and now forms a key part of a holistic compliance and safety strategy.

Fire Fighting Equipment team – Improving safety standards across Scotland

City Building’s Fire Fighting Equipment (FFE) team provides services across the country, from Kirkcudbright to Dunoon, Stranraer, and Glasgow City Centre.

They are responsible for the inspection, servicing, and certification of fire safety equipment (such as extinguishers and fire blankets) across a large and varied property portfolio, including care homes, offices, schools and council chambers.

They work closely with clients, site managers, and architects to ensure premises remain compliant with fire safety regulations through routine checks, maintenance, and accurate record-keeping.

They also provide planned preventative maintenance schedules, updating compliance systems, and advising on appropriate equipment placement.

Safety regulations are increasingly important for both new and historic buildings, and City Building’s dedicated experts work to ensure that properties are not just compliant, but are maintained to the highest safety standards.
