NOTRE DAME PRIMARY SCHOOL

This category B listed former Dowanhill Primary School (a local landmark since 1984) characterised by sandstone elevations and central atria was fully refurbished with design priorities based on sustainability accessibility a well as the construction of a new extension to house a nursery that was sympathetic to the original building.

Our team, working with historic Scotland ensured as much of the original materials were used in the refurbishment of the classrooms, staff rooms, toilets and plant.

The extension features a nursery, changing rooms, library, assembly/dining room and games hall over five storeys and was aligned to the original building’s facades and eaves.

We installed a super insulated envelope, geothermal heating, heat-recovery mechanical ventilation as well as combined heat and power as well as refurbishing the many architectural features using our specialist teams.

Once refurbishment was completed, we completely re-decorated all the internals of the school and to complete the transformation we manufactured all the furniture at our manufacturing division Royal Strathclyde Blindcraft Industries (RSBi) prior to installation.

The furniture was supplied and installed by our manufacturing division Royal Strathclyde Blindcraft Industries (RSBi).
