City Building received two awards yesterday for quality following a recent assessment of our Leadership, People and Processes, Products and Services. We received an EFQM (European Foundation for Quality Management) Recognised for Excellence 4 star award and a Quality Scotland good practice award for “Creating a Sustainable Future”.

A second year apprentice lifts top Apprentice Award

Lisa Murphy (19), a second year apprentice painter and decorator with City Building (Glasgow) LLP, has won the Trades House of Glasgow Modern Apprentice Awards 2016 (GMAA), now in its 10th year.

Lisa, who lives in Shettleston, Glasgow, was presented with a cheque for £1,000, an inscribed quaich and the GMAA Cup, which remains on display at the Trades Hall of Glasgow in Glassford Street, home to the Trades House and its 14 incorporated crafts.

City Building recognised for supporting carers in its workforce

One of Glasgow’s leading construction firms is the first in its sector in Scotland to be named as a “Carer Positive Employer”.

City Building received the accolade by the Carer Positive initiative, which is operated by Carers Scotland on behalf of the Scottish Government, with the aim of making life better for those who have responsibilities to look after dependent family members.

The construction firm had to demonstrate an awareness of carers within its workforce and show what commitment it has made to support them through workplace policies and practices.
The support systems established by City Building includes its leave for dependents policy, flexible working policy, support from line managers, HR and occupational health and employee assistance.

SQA STAR AWARDS 2015

City Building has been shortlisted in the Scottish Qualifications Authority (SQA) STAR (Success, Triumph, Achievement, Recognition) in the Lifelong Learning Centre category.

In being shortlisted judges looked for:

  • significant personal development for students
  • substantial future plans for employers
  • benefits of qualifications and training to the local community
  • creative models of recruitment and/or delivery

The Herald Property Awards

City Building in partnership with Maryhill Housing Association have been shortlisted for two awards at the forthcoming Herald Property Awards as follows:

Best Regeneration Project – Maryhill Locks Phase 2, Glasgow

and

Affordable Housing Development of the Year – Maryhill Locks Phase 2, Glasgow
