Building Your Future

The new leaflet titled ‘Building Your Future’ challenges some of the misconceptions about the construction industry. In particular, the leaflet highlights that apprenticeships can lead to a variety of roles including site management, quantity surveying, design, structural engineering as well as the traditional joiner, plumber and electrician positions. In addition the leaflet aims to inform the minority ethnic community the construction industry can be a route to selfemployment and a career that earns in excess of £30k per annum.
Leader of Glasgow City Council, Steven Purcell comments: “City Building is an organisation to be admired for the diversity of its workforce. It is one of the largest employers of special needs tradespeople in the UK and it has an excellent programme for single parents leading to a route into employment. I very much welcome this initiative to ensure that apprenticeship and career opportunities in construction are open to the full range of people in Glasgow’s diverse citizenship.”
