Kilmarnock and Scotland star Steven Naismith honours Malawi Team
GLASGOW—August 22, 2007
A 10-man team from major Scottish construction company, City Building, are heading out to Malawi to build an AIDS-testing clinic. The team have only 10 days to complete the project in challenging and dangerous conditions.
City Building are hosting a lunch for the team and their families at the company HQ and Kilmarnock striker and Scotland star Steven Naismith is paying a visit to give the men a special send-off.
Two giant containers are already in Malawi storing all the building materials and the tools needed to construct the clinic. When the job is complete, everything will stay in Malawi including the tools. They will be left to help the local community.
The team, led by project manager Alan Burns, have had several injections over the months to protect them from many illnesses including malaria.
The men have already been shown a special DVD showing the place, the people and the dangers they will face working in such heat and humidity. Deadly snakes and spiders were also highlighted.
The men depart for Malawi on September 3rd.
