City Building Crew Arrive Home Safely Following Sailing Experience

GLASGOW—August 20, 2008

Apprentices and trainers from construction firm City Building will arrive home safely on dry land tomorrow (19/08/08) following a dramatic rescue during a world boat race.

Eight apprentices including joiners, plumbers, electricians and roofers - and two members of staff were aboard the 60ft Clyde Challenger tall ship when a pipe burst on the vessel at around 11pm on Saturday in the North Sea. All crew members were rescued safely and transferred to a Norwegian coastguard ship.

City Building staff had joined regular crew members during stage two of the round-the-world Tall Ship race 2008, travelling from Bergen, Norway to Den Helder, Holland. The team were taking part in an ongoing healthy living and citizenship project and raising money for the Prince and Princess of Wales Hospice in Glasgow.

Friends, family and City Building Managing Director Willie Docherty will welcome the crew members when they arrive home safely at Glasgow International Airport at around 0825hrs. Some crew members and Willie Docherty will be available for interview and photographs.
