City Building gets Hospice on the road with a little help from Scotland bosses

GLASGOW—February 25, 2008

City Building (Glasgow) LLP are donating one of their distinctive silver vans to Glasgow’s Prince and Princess of Wales Hospice as part of a unique partnership between the two organisations.

The initiative will be part of the Hospice’s 25th Anniversary year celebrations.

SFA Chief Executive Gordon Smith and Scotland team boss George Burley handed over the keys of the Transit van at a ceremony in Glasgow.

The presentation will also see Glasgow’s leading construction company involved in the donation of prizes, maintenance work on the Hospice building and the offer of staff and transport to support fundraising events in the city.

SFA boss Smith commented: “I am delighted to lend my support to the Prince and Princes of Wales Hospice. The work that they do year in year out gives comfort and support to so many families throughout the country. The staff and volunteers who keep the hospice running are an inspiration to us all. My congratulations go to City Building for the backing that they are giving.”

City Building is the main sponsor of the Hospice’s annual Sporting Lunch at the Glasgow Hilton and City Building’s 2,500 employees will also be involved in fundraising events.

The Lord Provost of Glasgow automatically inherits the title of President of the Hospice and has done so for many years. Current Lord Provost, Bob Winter, like his predecessors, is very supportive and appreciative of the work done caring for many Glaswegians over the years.

City Building Managing Director Willie Docherty commented: “We are delighted to partner The Prince and Princess of Wales Hospice. Most of us have been touched at some time by the care and respite the Hospice offers to many patients and their families.”

“We made a conscious decision to channel more help to the Hospice and the donation of the van underlines our commitment.”

Morag Cunningham, Director of Fundraising and Marketing for the Hospice added: “City Building (Glasgow) has shown the Hospice an incredible amount of support over the last few years in many different ways and we delighted to further cement our working relationship with them.”

“Through the partnership, City Building is helping us to help patients and their families during the most difficult period of their lives.”
